The good news is that our membership of the Reservoir continues to grow – it is then important that we do not spoil the environment of Glengavel by having too many members – the Commitee is currently reviewing at what level we should then have to start a waiting list for members – if you are thinking about joining the Glengavel Reservoir we would suggest you join soon – just in case you miss out. We intend to organise a meeting soon to discuss this & other items with our members.
Please note keys to unlock the chains to give you access to the boat are now available in the boat house.
Please note our Open Competiton is on the Saturday 21st of May from 9.00 till 16.00 please see details on our Competiton Page – a note also to the Members of the Reservoir your ticket is void on that day if you wish to fish the cost is £10.00 – please note this is all about a bit of fun – if you turn up on your own we will try to pull together a 3 man team for you & for any other anglers in a similar postion – you can also chose to fish on your own for the individual prizes of Heaviest Fish & Heaviest Bag.
We will be stocking the Reservoir again soon prior to the competiton with some Triploid Brown Trout these fish have been bought from the Ae Fishery. We are able to pay for these fish thanks to the generous sponsorship of Tarmac who Quarry locally & a sponsor who wishes to remain anonymous – THANKS AGAIN TARMAC & OUR OTHER GENEROUS SPONSOR!!!
We will also be stocking the Reservoir prior to the Competion with ex broodstock Brown Trout from our Hatchery & Rearing Ponds which will all weigh in excess of 3.5lbs with some running to 7lbs plus.
The date for the individual members competiton this year is on Saturday the 10th of September @ Glengavel Reservoir (Fly Only) – please put this date in your diary now – all our members are welcome at this competiton both of the River & the Reservoir. It means that if you are a member of the river you are intitled to a free day on the reservior (on Saturday 10th September only) and a years fishing on the river for only £10.00 for a full member – what other membership of an Angling Association offers that level of value.
Please also note we will soon be launching another of the green rowing boats that will bring our stock of boats up to 3 – more news on boats to come.
Please note our AGM date & venue will be announced soon along with details of a members meeting which will be in the next few weeks.
